"My Fault, My Fault, My Most Grievous Fault"
You better learn the "mea culpa" if you're going to be Pope, Trump
It is Trump’s fault the US economy is tanking.
The phrase "my fault, my fault, my most grievous fault" is a direct translation of the Latin phrase "mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa.” This phrase is part of the Confiteor, a penitential act in the Catholic Mass, where one confesses sins and asks for forgiveness.
(And Trump, you do know that you need to be Catholic to be Pope, right?)
Trump never acknowledges fault for anything though. This time, however, there may be no getting out from under the fact that in his first “100 Days” he has brought the powerful Biden economy down through his stupid tariffs as well as other dumb moves. It has dropped like a rock.
Of course, he’s trying to blame President Biden for the catastrophic downturn in the economy in his term (as usual), but as Nobel Prize winning economist Paul Krugman just wrote: “In short, pay no attention to Trump’s excuses. The U.S. economy was in good shape when he came in. If everything is going to hell — which it is — he has nobody but himself to blame.”
Other notable analysts have weighed in on how Trump has tanked the US economy. JPMorgan chief economist Bruce Kasman said on Wednesday: “Trump’s trade war has spooked Wall Street and prompted some analysts to warn of a potential recession. ‘If we would continue down this road of what would be more disruptive, business-unfriendly policies, I think the risks on that recession front would go up.’”
I think the hardcore Trumpians will not acknowledge his fault for how our economy has tanked as they do not fault him for anything else, but his support is falling among independent and non-Maga voters. This is only partly good news as abusers like Trump lash out often violently when confronted with their fault.
Trump, as I have written many times, is a textbook abuser. Abusers have a truly impenetrable mindset of self-justification. Entitlement is the overriding mental state. Thus, he thinks he deserves to have others acknowledge his power and control over them.
Thus, the abusive personality has such a profound sense of self-justification for what they do that they can never truly be remorseful or sorry.
Christianity has been horrific in its centuries long failure to hold the powerful and especially white males with power to account for their trespasses. Instead, fault has been projected on to the poor, racial/ethnic minorities, LGBTQ people, migrants and, of course, women.
You remember Eve, right?
Still, tanking the economy will be lashed around the necks of Republicans in the midterms and dragged around like an anvil.
From my lips to God’s ears.
Perfect recent illustration: Trump during interview with Terry Moran. I don’t know anything about you but you’re the luckiest person alive to get the honour of interviewing me… so tread lightly. (Implication - I can destroy you if I’m so inclined)
