I’d say less immune, Jeff, in the sense that it is now in our subconscious. You’re really right about corporations.

The cruelty is beyond mention, the cynicism toward and hatred of other human beings unspeakable. Postmodern indeed, and you can even get the tee shirt. We are right to weep and work harder than ever. Thanks, Susan, for your clarity.

"The Panopticon, theorized by philosopher Jeremy Bentham, was designed to have all prisoners visible to a guard, but the inmates could not see the guard. They were, or were not, under constant surveillance. They didn’t know so they internalized the surveillance."

I read that and immediately thought about how corporations (especially social media, though really all companies that collect data) are surveilling us. And I wonder, does that make us more or less immune the the Panopticon pressure to internalize the surveillance?
